We received an e-mail last week-end from our web designer and this is an exact quote from him,
Hallelujah!!!!!!! I want to SCREAM it from the top of somewhere very high!!!
He had just successfully moved our new website over to where our old site had been. After hours and hours and hours of working on a glitch it finally came together for him. Well, today we feel the same way; we want to holler from the rooftops!! The new website is launched thanks to Kevin and Lisa. Just shortly more than a month ago we were sitting in a coffee shop throwing about ideas and today those lofty dreams have come to fruition.
We’re not really sure what happened to July . . . We think it got lost somewhere in the world wide web. None of us remember July, except for seeing the date pop up once or twice in the right hand corner of our computer screens. Thank you Kevin. Thank you Lisa. The two of you have been incredible to work with and we sincerely appreciate all you have done and continue to do for KIDSPACE Child Enrichment Center.
So, let us tell you about some of our favorite secrets of the new website . . . the first is the testimonial quotes by the children. We put out an open invitation, late today, to the children to be interviewed up in our office. The mystery and wonder of what lies at the top of the stairs is a BIG lure to the children and they are always eager to respond to an invitation to go upstairs. Today was no different. They lined up at the bottom of the stairs for a turn to climb the flight of steps upon invitation. One at a time they were ushered up the staircase by Sharon. They sat either in the stiff black plastic adult chair or the well, worn comfy couch. Kathy, with paper and pencil in hand, sat across from them. It was all very formal. . . very important. The children were extremely serious about the task at hand. They were asked first if all, if they understood what an interview was. After that was clarified, we asked for their permission to quote them on the website. Following their approval, we asked them to talk about KIDSPACE. They talked and we wrote.
You never know what children are going to say. Collin told us that he has a brand new favorite game he likes to play in the gym. This is how he described his new game, “Cole throws the ninja star he made of iron at me and I try to dodge it.”
Trying not to sound alarmed, and thinking this quote will definitely need to be edited, we asked, “a ninja star . . . made out of iron?” Collin gave us an ‘are you crazy look’ and replied, “you know, from the beads that you iron.” Of course! . . . How could we have thought anything different? (Note: fuse beads are small plastic beads that are placed on a plastic board to make unlimited creations. After ironed, the small plastic items are flexible and fragile)
You can find delightful and heartfelt short quotes from our conversations with a few children. Click on the ABOUT US heading on the website. The quotes by the children are at the bottom of the page.
The second secret of the website . . . which obviously isn’t a secret anymore . . . that is, if you’re reading this . . . is our brand new blog. Not only is the blog new . . . we’re new to blogging . . . never done it before . . .uhhh . . . you can probably tell. However, we are writing from our hearts . . . and, isn’t that what blogging is all about?
So you ask . . . what’s on our hearts? We’ll give you three guesses. You didn’t really need all three guesses did you? You’re right if you said . . . children. We want to share about our greatest investment, children. We are planning on sharing stories and “goings on” from the classrooms. We want to make you smile, chuckle and warm your weary hearts. We also want to communicate informational tid-bits with you that will ease some of the worries of parenthood and others that will bring delight to the days you and your child spend together.
We will give you glimpses of our days. To us, they are magic! Many people shake their heads and say, “I could never do what you do.” And to them we say, “We could never NOT do what we do!”
Stay tuned . . . Hugs and God Bless!
