BLUEBIRDS – E is for Elephant

We introduced Edgar the Elephant to the children.  He joined our other animal letter friends:  Leo the Lizard, Tom Turkey, Freddy the Frog, Francis the Fish, and Patty the Pig.
The children have practiced making the letter “E” using the wooden sticks from our writing curriculum and practiced writing the letter “E” on individual whiteboards.
The children have also been practicing the ASL sign for the letter “E.”

Have you looked at our elephant bulletin board with your child?
Art and science were integrated into the making of these amazing animals.  The children were given black and white paint.  They discovered GRAY!
After the paint was dry the elephants were cut out and mounted onto the colored paper (children’s choice).  The children then practiced their cutting skills by cutting grass for the elephants to stand on.
Please take a moment to look at the BLUEBIRD elephant bulletin board.  The children were focused and did an amazing job on their elephants from color mixing to cutting!
An Elephant Goes Like This (action rhyme)
An elephant goes like this and that.
(sway body back and forth)
He’s terribly big,
(hands up high)
And he’s terribly fat.
(hands out wide)
He has no fingers
(fold fingers)
And he has no toes,
(fold fingers)
But goodness gracious, what a long  nose!
(make a curling motion away from nose)
