Bluebirds
Our second week has gone by quickly. The children are learning our classroom routines
and making new friends.
During P.E. Mr. Antonio is counting in Spanish and the children are learning to count in Spanish too as they stretch their bodies during warm-up.
Mr. Antonio has been teaching the Bluebirds to walk on the balance beam both forward and sideways. Good balance helps with motor skills and cognitive learning.
The children loved using the white boards to practice drawing circles for faces. They also drew self portraits for their notebooks. I was amazed at their talent! Good job!!
We really have some talented future engineers who work dilegently at constructing new
ways of diverting the sand flow at our indoor sandbox.
Everyone loves Ms. Katie! She makes the slide exciting with her games.
Children line up to get a turn sliding past her.
Group games provide many opportunities to learn cooperative skills, including graciously waiting for turns. During a game about Bluebirds (similar to button, button) the students received a gummy worm treat. In addition to waiting for a turn, the children needed to talk in front of the whole group (which can be a bit daunting) and ask friends if they had their worms.
Every child participated and showed perfect sportsmanship.
It was a wonderful time of cooperation for everyone.
Miss Katie, Mr. Antonio and I are really enjoying our classes.
What wonderful children you have!
