This has been a truly amazing summer and it is so hard to believe that the first day of school is just around the corner. The Manta Rays finished their summer with dragons, royalty, castles, and fairies. Take a look!
Dragons!
Pete the Dragon was a hit! He made the Manta Rays laugh at circle time and inspired them to make some dragon puppets of their own.
We also made dragon punch together at circle time..
Castles!
The Manta Rays spent some time exploring how geometric shapes could be used to create castles. Next they traced their drawn outlines with black glue. When they were dry, we filled them in with water colors, giving our creations a sort of stained glass effect.
More castle inspired artwork…
Kings, queens, princes, and princesses!
An array of crowns filled our imaginative play centers. One look around our room and you would see princes and princesses reading fairy tales and creating some of their own.
Our magical sensory tub filled with jewels allowed us to explore, sort, and measure…
On dress like a prince or princess day, the Manta Rays made crowns…
On the day of our cupcake party, the play dough bakery was open for business…
The kiddos decided they’d rather eat the real thing though…
Fairies!
Fairy dust writing trays…
Learning about fairies…
Last week while we were picnicking at the park, the Manta Rays found something quite peculiar in one of the trees…a note from a fairy! The Manta Rays spent some time reading over the note for clues, brainstorming what they knew about fairies, and coming up with ideas for how to see one.
They decided they might be able to entice the fairy to appear if they built her a home. The kiddos used a variety of materials (cups, milk cartons, leaves, silk flowers, sticks, and moss) to create little fairy habitats.
