Welcome to our Bluebird page! It has been such an exciting first full week. We have spent much time getting to know each other and practicing manners, kindness and routines. We are encouraging each child in our group to put on their own shoes and socks every day. We want each child to feel capable and self sufficient now that they are four years old.
Shoes and socks go in each child’s cubby.
We say, “Put your socks in your shoes, and your shoes in your cubby!”
The Bluebirds had the opportunity to make bird nests. They were able to measure and stir ingredients, cooperate with friends, experience the texture of greasy hands and sticky rice crispy marshmallow treats, and choose the color of their bird eggs. OOeey, gooey fun!!
Our new fireman costumes were a popular item for creative play. It was fun to see the children helping each other out as they put on hats and vests. They put out several “emergency fires” throughout the school using team work and leadership skills.
We talked about bluebirds and the color blue and then the children experienced
mixing colors as they painted with several blue shades of paint
and used a balloon for a painting tool.
It was a pleasure to see the children using good manners as they explored the rooms together.
They enjoyed the dress up costumes and played with new friends and old.
How wonderful to still have such good weather here in Vancouver!
Outside play has been yet another way to make new friends, choose fun activities,
or just relax with some quiet time alone.
We are learning some new songs and poems. Here is one…..
Two Little Bluebirds sitting on a hill.
One named Jack,
One named Jill.
Fly away Jack,
Fly away Jill.
Come back Jack,
Come back Jill.
Have a great day,
Ms. Ginger
