Gingerbread men helped the children practice their number recognition skills and their counting skills.   First they paired the gingerbread men with dots and those with numerals.

The children then unfix cubes and buttons
to match the number on the gingerbread men.
As a follow-up, the children created their own gingerbread man and then chose a number between 1 and 10.  Their task was to count out and glue on the number of buttons that matched their numeral.
It was a great project to reinforce their one to one counting skills.

Nice work by everyone in the Robin’s class.
You can check out all the gingerbread men with their
buttons on the bulletin board in the middle room at Kidspace.
