Today, each child received a gingerbread man to color. Nice work everyone.

During circle time we explored the math concept of fractions using the gingerbread men that we colored. We discovered that when our gingerbread men were uncut, with no pieces missing it was “whole.” |
The children were then asked to cut their gingerbread man into two equal pieces. Now their gingerbread man was in two “halves.” |
Together the gingerbread man was whole, but apart he was in half. The children then passed half of their gingerbread man to a friend. What silly “whole” gingerbread men that made!
Learning our first lesson on fractions was a “whole” lot of fun! Miss Julie and Miss Crystal |
