Welcome! The new school year has officially begun and we’re off to a great start. What an awesome group of kiddos! As many of you know, the Robins will not have any formal curriculum for the month of September, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a whole lot of learning going on. We spent our time this week getting to know all our new friends, going over our daily schedule, and practicing things like listening manners and classroom routines. Here is a glimpse of a few other things we did this week…
The building centers were a huge hit the first two days. Building is such an important part of the early childhood learning experience…more to come about that later. 🙂
Legos…
New friends collaborating at the puzzle table…
Meanwhile, another group is working together to find all the missing numbers. A bag of rice, a handful of jewels, and a number puzzle turns our sensory table into a stimulating sensory experience that encourages number awareness and cooperation.
Another busy center this week was the play dough table. The National Association for the Education of Young Children just published a great article about the many wonders of playing with play dough. They even included a few new recipes the Robins will have to try this year. You can read the article here… Playdough Power.
The Robins have been using a picture schedule to help us remember the different parts of our day. We checked so many times to see when we would finally get to play in the gym. Here we are playing basketball and cheering on our friends…
Thank you so much for reading!
Until next week,
Miss Crystal & Miss Julie
