Hello again! This week in the Robins class was all about the letter “W” for world. Take a look!
This week the Robins made world art using green and blue crayon shavings and melting them using an iron. Using scissors and pencil sharpeners to shave the crayons was a great fine motor activity. Unfortunately, the steam from the iron set off the smoke detectors, turning our art project into an impromptu fire drill, but the end results were still beautiful.
The next day we decided to stick to warming trays for melting crayons…
Our study of the world incorporated a few different themes, including geography. This week the Robins explored a geography center that included globes, map puzzles, and geography books. We love watching the Robins take control of their own learning by exploring materials and making connections.
As the Robins learned about different places around the world, we also began learning about the people of the world. The kiddos really enjoyed these multicultural dolls that featured clothing and accessories from around the globe…
This week we also invited the Robins to think about the world around them and how to make it a better place. After reading the book, We Dream Of A World, we encouraged them to draw a picture that represented the world they each dream of. The results were incredible!
Thanks for reading! Until next week,
Miss Crystal & Miss Julie
