Greetings! It has been another busy week in the Robins class. Take a look!
The letter of the week was “D” for Dog. The Robins practiced forming the letter by using wood pieces.
We also made “D”s using craft sticks and pipe cleaners. This simple hands-on activity reinforced the correct formation of the letter “D” and was also a great way to practice our fine motor skills.
We continued practicing forming letters using magnetic writing pads…
We used alphabet soup cans to sort the letters we’ve learned so far (A-D).
Alphabet trays filled with different items (salt, flour, cocoa, and powdered sugar) provide a multi-sensory letter writing experience.
This week we introduced geoboards to the Robins class and invited them to explore making different shapes by wrapping various sized rubber bands around the pegs on the board. This activity is great for geometric awareness and small muscle control.
We continued our investigation of fall, changes in the weather, and leaves. We made fall wreaths…
We made leaf rubbings which is a great way to encourage young children to use their “helping hand” to hold the paper. This is a skill that they will continue to develop as they begin to write.
We read the wonderful book, Leaf Man, and made leaf creatures of our own. They turned out great!
This week we also introduced our good friend, Mat Man. You’ll hear more about him as they year progresses…
Family Night!
The Robins excitedly made ABC rice kripsy treats for family night.
We also practiced the “Freeze Song” so we could show our friends & family.
Thank you to all the families who came out for the Robins’ family night. We had a wonderful time and we hope you did too.
Until next week,
Miss Crystal & Miss Julie
