October is here and we had lots of new things in store for the Robins. Take a look!
This Monday was our first gymnastics class at Naydenov. The Robins had so much fun that each day this week they came in and asked if it was a gymnastics day. We added gymnastics cards to our calendar so the kiddos could count down the days until our next class.
This week, we also introduced our very first letter of the week: A! We introduce each letter by demonstrating how to form the letter using wood pieces, which mimic the strokes used when writing.
We also learned the ASL sign for the letter A and alligator! Ask your Robin to show you how. We learned the song/story, The Lady with the Alligator Purse, and incorporated this into our learning centers using magnetic storyboards and alligator counting.
A new sensory experience to explore…a variety of different items made from wood.
We also started talking about the Fall season. This week we focused on apples, which tied in nicely with our letter of the week.
At circle time, we introduced a scale and apples made of a variety of different materials (real, wood, plastic, foam). The Robins had the opportunity to make predictions and explore concepts such as more/less and heavier/lighter.
Apple prints…
More apple art & counting…
Apple collages…
Apple puzzles…
During our Summer program, some of the Robins helped start a Kidspace garden. This week we harvested our lettuce and made a salad. The Robins were able to shred, rinse, and spin the lettuce. It was a huge hit!
Thank you so much for reading. Until next time,
Miss Crystal & Miss Julie
